Yoga Retreat In Greece

Following our recent yoga retreat in Greece (Mykonos), we would like to share our video with you to demonstrate the 'Sunset Jewel' venue where we all stayed for the week and where you are planning to go back next year.

At the same time, we would like to take the opportunity to let you know our perspective of what we feel a yoga retreat is about.

A yoga retreat offers a great opportunity to pause from your normal routines and habits in order to invite space and positive change into your life. Our theme in Mykonos this year was ‘Pause’.

The setting along with the yoga practices, provided ideal conditions to entertain the possibility of how creating space allows insights to flow to us and with this, how with a few tweaks here and there we can simplify our lives to promote more contentment. The value of this is that it applies not just to our time on yoga retreat or during practice when we return home, but outside of ‘mat-time’ where it is most needed.

Most importantly the time enables us to self reflect, perhaps with more honesty than when our mind is pressed with the weights of daily responsibilities and concerns which home life entails. The retreat space allows us to see and reflect upon our relationships with new people, familiar faces, friends and even relatives.

The breathtaking views, scrumptious food which we neither need to prepare nor tidy away afterwards and the chance to immerse ourselves in deep rest, are indeed the icing on the cake.

Yoga Retreat in Greece

When friends or acquaintances express excitement about our yoga retreat, we often smile and say, “It’s a pilgrimage.” We go with the awareness that challenges may arise, that the dust clouding the clarity of the soul may rise to the surface and through it, there will be growth. The pause that a retreat creates enable us to see clearly if, when and how we stand in the way our inner light. A yoga retreat is simply an expanded opportunity to look at our mental and emotional habits and as such, it becomes a spiritual journey.

With this in mind, perhaps next time we might invite those who feel inspired to share their reflections: what they discovered about themselves, their relation to others, when they felt anchored in presence and when they were caught in the pull of the mind or the drama of the ego's story.

Bringing these insights into clearer awareness helps crystallise understanding. This allows us to move through the world with greater ease and to let our inner light shine ever more brightly, wherever and however we might be.

Forever learning,

🙂 Matt & Dorna
